Illicit organizations and governance in Latin America

November 13, 2025 - 2:00 pm

Room 9207
The Graduate Center, CUNY

This roundtable brings together scholars for an open discussion on the intersections of crime, ideology, and governance in the Americas. Building on emerging research that challenges traditional distinctions between criminal and political behavior, participants will reflect on how belief systems, moral orders, and collective identities shape organized crime. The conversation will also explore how these ideas influence state responses, social control, and the production of legitimacy.
