Nora Gámez Torres will discuss how younger generations of Cuban musicians from the alternative music and pop rock scenes redefine the symbolic boundaries of the Cuban nation by interpreting emigration and national identity through emotional, transnational and cosmopolitan frames. She will explore the ways in which popular music in Cuba informs an alternative cultural public sphere.
